Your tour starts as you meet up with your guide for a drive along the Haines Highway, declared a National Scenic Byway in 2009. You will marvel as you pass by glacier-clad mountains, colorful wildflowers, and green rivers dotted with bear, moose, and other animals.
Arrive at the famous Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve where you will board a raft for a memorable ride down the Chilkat River. Along the way your expert guide will provide fascinating facts and exciting stories of the area's natural history and life in the Alaskan wilderness. While here you will learn how to spot beautiful bald eagles and appreciate their struggle for survival.
Alaska has the largest eagles, weighing in between 9 to 15 pounds with an impressive wingspan of 6 to 8 feet. If you are lucky, you will be treated to a stunning performance of an eagle swooping down into the lake to catch its prey. Prior to joining Abercrombie & Kent, Mr. Miller held a variety of executive positions with Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises for more than a decade. These positions included Vice President of Guest Sales & Service, Vice President of Brand Development, and Vice President of Onboard Revenue (which included shore excursions). Mr. Miller also led Celebrity Expeditions, a collection of outstanding and unique tours around the World.
Michael Bonner
Mr. Bonner has over a decade of experience working in the cruise industry in a variety of roles for both Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and Viking River Cruises. Most recently, Mr. Bonner was the Chief Operating Officer for The Scholar Ship, a Royal Caribbean program aimed at providing college students onboard educational programs in conjunction with enriching shore excursions around the world.
